Building a permanent collection, together with exhibiting and educational activities, is the most important aim of the Centre of Contemporary Art Znaki Czasu in Torun. In accordance with the Znaki Czasu Programme formed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland, which is to propagate and promote Polish art, the collection has been built since 2007 in cooperation with the Znaki Czasu Friends of Fine Arts Association in Torun, along with the CoCA’s Advisory Board and local artistic circles.
COLLECTION 1 is the first part of an exposition cycle focused on the CoCA collection.
The following displays, entitled COLLECTION 2 and COLLECTION 3, are aimed to successively present different parts of the collection – artworks purchased together by the CoCA and the Znaki Czasu Friends of Fine Arts Association in Torun, and the works of local artists.
Apart from the paintings inaugurating the collection, donated by the Minister of Culture, Waldemar Dabrowski, the display also contains artworks primarily purchased by the Znaki Czasu Friends of Fine Arts Association in Torun, funded by the National Centre for Culture.
